ACTIVATE is new youth leadership initiative driven by HP Change and The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce. This two-year program delivers monthly experiential opportunities for Grade 11/12 students across Winnipeg/Manitoba that showcase different areas of our communities and career paths. ACTIVATE aims to create environments that get participants reflecting and discussing what is meaningful to them - in a career and community context.
Over the past two years, HP Change has aimed to get young people out of the classroom into real environments, connecting with students from other schools, and meeting leaders and the broader community.
ACTIVATE is built on three elements:
inspire students with showcases of awesome people doing incredible things
empower students with skill development opportunities through program partners
activate students through community projects linked with local organizations that resonate with students' interests and passions
Year-One - Community Days: interactive, story-based days that surround youth with people creating impact, as well as provide skill development and networking opportunities. These days will contain themes that influence program and discussion (ie Technology/Entrepreneurship; Indigenous Culture and Community; Our Environment)
Year-Two - Community Projects: in small groups, students collaborate with local organizations on real-world issues. This process will aim to be a "community project incubator" which will allow youth to drive action (which is meaningful to them) while being exposed to resources and more learning opportunities
Must attend every Community Day throughout the program (ONE day per month).
